Cherishing Life’s Chimes

Ten thousand stories I have to tell,

Some things I picked up around a wishing well.

I heard ten different stories a thousand times

Little tips on know-how and to cherish life’s chimes.

They said that’s life it’s the way it goes

Sometimes you get it right

Sometimes you don’t know

Just put on a smile

Go with the flow

Put one foot ahead

Find a way to go.

You know its love when your heart breaks

You can’t help sometimes from being late

Sift through the keepers and lose the fakes

Hold on to mementos from picnics by the lake.

They said that’s life it’s the way it goes

Sometimes you get it right

Sometimes you don’t know

Just put on a smile

Go with the flow

Put one foot ahead

Find a way to go.

Find a hobby that will keep you sane

Don’t watch lightning through the windowpane

Jump on a pile of leaves you’ve raked

Stop holding on to things that hate

Dance in the city in the pouring rain

Remember it’s okay to tear the pain.

They said that’s life it’s the way it goes

Sometimes you get it right

Sometimes you don’t know

Just put on a smile

Go with the flow

Put one foot ahead

Find a way to go.

Just do what you do

Go with the flow

Put on a smile

Find a way to go.

What inspires you to create?

I like to find inspiration from experiences of all varieties. Things we do or experience or learn about.

As of late I have found inspiration from frequent little visitors who illuminate the night. Fascinating fireflies of course! This is something I haven’t experienced before so it’s all new and exciting and the latest inspiration for a poem!

Fireflies stopped by

Lighting the sky with their reasons why

Shining bulbs of light

In a moment out of sight

Soon enough repeated

A unique show,

sporadic glow

A holistic spectacle,

Of unsyncronised light

A collaborative solo

Illuminating the night

How to make 3-Ingredient Granola

I do like easy, simple recipes that I can work into the day or even better can make while I am cooking dinner.

Granola is a must in our household. The kids love it so much and get so excited when we make it, which is usually late afternoon on a Tuesday. This is because the oven is usually on anyway because it’s baked potato and tuna salad night!

I like that it’s a simple 3 ingredient recipe, not just because it is quick and easy but because we usually already have the ingredients in the house.

Ingredients

  • 2-3 tablespoons of honey
  • 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
  • 3-4 cups of rolled oats

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 356 F (180 C)
  • Line a large baking tray with parchment paper (or spread a thin layer of coconut oil)
  • Melt the coconut oil and honey in a medium sized pot
  • Once melted add the oats and stir until covered
  • Spread the mixture onto the baking tray
  • Bake for 6 minutes and stir
  • Bake for a further 5 to 6 minutes (until golden brown)
  • Cool and store in an airtight container

At this point you can add desired extras like nuts, raisins, cranberries, puffed rice etc.

We usually add granola to yogurt and cereals and sometimes ice cream 😀

Add granola to yoghurt, cereal or ice cream

One of my favourite snacks is adding granola and chopped apple to Greek yoghurt (mixed with cinnamon and honey of course)

Bloom

The prompt for day 2 of the #springhashtagchallenge (with @edinburghwithkids and @littlepaperswan ) is #bloom

Here is my contribution for the day. Been feeling inspired by Spring and all it brings. Also been doing in a bit of paper collage, just because. I must say it was rather therapeutic. Oh and of course cup of tea was not far away!

Hope you all find time to do something you enjoy.

BE IN BLOOM

Make time

Find a way

Just a little each day

Find something

Carved by you

Something that’s yours

For you

Make a moment

Be in bloom

“Prepare, if you dare”

Happy Halloween everyone! I had to take the time to share one of our favourite Halloween books, A Halloween Scare in Washington, D.C. (Prepare If You Dare) written by Eric James and illustrated by Marina Le Ray.

“Prepare, if you dare, for a night full of thrills, when Washington, D.C. gave everyone thrills.”

This such a fun read to be enjoyed by all ages. It has everything spooky with fantastic illustrations. The boys just love reading it over and over and pointing at the pictures.

We recommend giving this book a read.
